“School decision making, based on student test data, is more important today than ever before! K-12 schools are under pressure to increase student test scores to ensure state compliancy, improve student success, strengthen the ability to compete with other schools, and boost parental and community support. However, the ability to analyze key information to aide in the decision making process can be time consuming, costly, and overwhelming. Five-Star Pivot was developed by K-12 educators to provide schools with easy-to-use and cost effective tools that help quickly and accurately collect and analyze both student and staff data.” http://five-startech.com/
IMLEA is working with the Five-Star Pivot Plan staff with schools who are working with no data warehousing or out-dated programs. This is a plan developed by educators for educators. Over 40% of the school districts in Indiana are now using it … IMLEA’s Board of Directors of administrators and teachers agreed to the partnership after seeing a presentation because they saw what a difference it can make for all schools with collecting and using data to track the progress of schools, teachers, classes and students. Five-Star customizes the data according to the assessments the school uses…and they can update it at any time. It is worth your time to meet with them – contact email@example.com for more information or to set up a meeting . The Pivot Plan is just one of the services and software they offer. Check out their website above for more information.
The Indiana Department of Education and the Center for Education and Career Innovation released draft college and career ready standards for English/Language Arts and Mathematics on Wednesday, February 19.
In order to completely understand the changes that will be presented to the State Board of Education and the Indiana Education Roundtable for approval next month, a group of educationally focused-organizations asked Dr. Schauna Findlay, the state's foremost expert in standards and curriculum, to review the draft. In the video links below, Dr. Findlay provides a deep analysis of the draft standards.
To learn of these changes and the potential impact to Indiana's classrooms, I encourage you to first view the general overview video, which contains valuable information on your opportunity to comment on these draft standards.
The four additional videos with their corresponding documents (three math by grade levels and one English/Language Arts) provide specific analysis and examples of changes to existing standards.
Your input on these standards is essential to student success! Please take some time to review these videos and documents. Educators may submit specific comments through the online portal. Public comments will be taken online until March 12.
